GoldMine® Training

Basic GoldMine® Training
This incorporates the day-to-day use of the system recording general activities that have taken place between staff, suppliers and clients. As part of any migration, codes will be set up in such a way so that management information and other statistics become a by-product of the users’ general activity. Delegates will be shown: -

  • An overview (the general range of GoldMine® functionality)
  • How to add their activities (calls, appointments, actions)
  • How to find and use Company Information
  • How to find and use People information
  • How to use GoldMine® and Word to generate letters and faxes
  • How to plan follow up activity
  • How to plan activities for colleagues and how to follow this up
  • How to run User Reports
  • How to query the system to access a variety of useful information

Basic GoldMine® Assessment
A ninety minute, one-to-one session whereby the trainer assesses the delegates’ GoldMine® skills over a number of activities covered on the Basic Training Course. As the activities are monitored and measured consistently, this allows you to see quite clearly who the GoldMine® Super Stars are and who might need further assistance.

Advanced GoldMine® Training
We use a mix and match approach here based on the area of the system in which you wish to focus. Many of the areas will need to be set up first to ensure that the correct codes are in place and to make certain that the delegates will be given a consistent message in how your organisation uses any particular module.

We have found that focused, process-oriented training in this way is more effective than generic training as the delegates know exactly what is expected of them. Course sessions are usually delivered in half-day units. We try to ensure the user is given some preparatory work to do before attending. This is so that they can prepare real life examples to use and take away with them after completing the training session, which will be useful within their work.

Some areas in which you may wish to consider Advanced training: -

GoldMine® Queries
GoldMine® operatives may use ‘queries’ to aid them in finding detailed information within the system. The intention is to guide staff into using GoldMine® like a directory and to run regular online queries to supplement information required for reports and for planning their projects etc.

Any information found using a ‘query’ can be transferred to a group, report or mailing if required. General querying of the system is covered on the Basic GoldMine® Training course. However, elements of this module are repeated time and time again, as we believe that once users become expert at querying the system, the quality of their own data entry improves dramatically.

GoldMine® Mailshots and E-mailshots
The ability to write to groups of people selected from GoldMine® based on specific criteria. Whether your mailshot is generated within your organisation, by your own staff, or the resulting data is passed to an outside fulfilment agent, the process in GoldMine® is exactly the same. This enables a full audit trail of all sent items to be maintained.

Mail Shots – Basic Training introduces the delegates to run a simple mailing based on simple criteria.

After some practice and familiarisation (typically a month of using mailshots) follow up sessions show how to use some of the more advanced features of Word alongside GoldMine® (e.g. what, else, if, then, embedded statements).

GoldMine® Administration and Security
GoldMine® uses several levels of security and can be tailored to reflect the use of different groups of partners. At the commencement of any security project, Gale Consulting will advise on the relevant level of security for your requirements and your partnership commitments.
